Overview of the Scheme

Introduction

The Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana is a transformative initiative by the Delhi Government aimed at providing free coaching to economically disadvantaged students from SC, ST, OBC, and EWS communities. Launched on December 12, 2017, the scheme empowers talented students by offering financial support and access to quality coaching for competitive exams.

Key Features

• Target Beneficiaries: SC, ST, OBC, and EWS students.
• Empanelled Institutes: 46 coaching centers listed by the Government of Delhi.
• Coaching Coverage: Covers entrance exams for higher education institutions, government jobs, and professional courses.
• Merit-Based Selection: Admission based on institute’s criteria or academic performance.
• Two-Time Benefit: Students can avail of the scheme twice, with 50% fee coverage for the second attempt.

Scheme Achievements

• In the last year, 13,000 students availed coaching.
• 4,000 students appeared for engineering and medical exams, with 1,303 securing admissions in reputed institutions.
• Target: 15,000 students to receive coaching annually.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Residency: Must be a resident of Delhi.
2. Category:
   • Scheduled Caste (SC)
   • Scheduled Tribe (ST)
   • Other Backward Class (OBC)
   • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)
3. Education:
   • Passed 10th and 12th from a Delhi-based school.
   • Students currently in Class 12 in Delhi are eligible.
   • Graduate-level exam aspirants must meet eligibility criteria for the respective entrance exam.
4. Income Limit: Family income should not exceed Rs. 8 Lakh per annum.
5. Attendance: Students must attend classes regularly; absence of more than 15 days without a valid reason leads to disqualification.

How to Apply

For Empanelled Institutes

1. Select a coaching center from the empanelled list.
2. Submit the prescribed application form along with required documents at the coaching center.
3. The coaching center will enroll eligible students and forward the list to the Department within seven days of the start of coaching.

For Non-Empanelled Institutes

1. Submit the filled application form with required documents to the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC and Minorities.
2. Mention “Application for coaching under Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana” on the envelope.
3. Address:
   • The Deputy Director (Implementation) Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC and Minorities, GNCT of Delhi Vikas Bhawan, B-Block, 2nd Floor, I.P. Estate, New Delhi.
4. Applications are scrutinized, and eligible candidates are informed by the Department.

• Submit applications within 30 days of advertisement publication.
