Introduction
The Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana is a flagship initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh designed for the welfare of girl children.
- Launch Date: 01 April 2019.
- Objective: The scheme aims to reduce the infant mortality rate of girl children and provide financial support to their parents for ensuring proper education and upbringing.
- Nodal Department: The Department of Women and Child Development, Uttar Pradesh.
- Alternate Names: Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana or Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangla Scheme.
Initial Financial Assistance
In the initial phase, the Uttar Pradesh Government provided financial assistance of ₹15,000 in six stages:
- ₹2,000 at the birth of the girl child.
- ₹1,000 when the girl turns 1 year old.
- ₹2,000 upon admission to Class 1.
- ₹2,000 upon admission to Class 6.
- ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 9.
- ₹5,000 after passing Class 10 or 12 and enrolling in higher education.
Scheme Enhancement
On 30 August 2023, as a Rakshabandhan gift to beneficiaries, the Chief Minister increased the financial assistance under the scheme from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.
Revised Financial Assistance
Under the revised scheme, eligible girl children will receive ₹25,000 in six stages:
- ₹5,000 at the birth of the girl child.
- ₹2,000 when the girl turns 1 year old.
- ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 1.
- ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 6.
- ₹5,000 upon admission to Class 9.
- ₹7,000 after passing Class 10 or 12 and enrolling in higher education.
Coverage
The scheme covers educational expenses from the girl’s birth to the completion of Class 12.
Eligibility Criteria
- Residency: Only permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh are eligible.
- Income Limit: The family’s annual income should not exceed ₹3,00,000.
- Number of Beneficiaries per Family: Benefits are limited to two girl children per family.
- Birth Date Criteria: Only girl children born on or after 01 April 2018 are eligible.
- Adopted Children: Adopted girl children are also eligible.

Eligible beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance by completing the online application form for the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana.
Benefits
Under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana, eligible girl children will receive ₹25,000 in six stages as financial assistance:
- ₹5,000 at birth.
- ₹2,000 at the age of 1 year.
- ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 1.
- ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 6.
- ₹5,000 upon admission to Class 9.

Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana, the following conditions must be met:
- The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- The beneficiary must be a girl child.
- The girl’s date of birth must be on or after 01 April 2018.
- The annual family income should not exceed ₹3,00,000.
- The benefits are restricted to a maximum of two girl children per family.

The following documents are mandatory for availing the benefits of the scheme:
- Residence Proof: Proof of residency in Uttar Pradesh.
- Aadhar Card: Aadhar card of the mother of the girl child.
- Aadhar Card: Aadhar card of the father of the girl child.
- Income Certificate: Family income certificate.
- Birth Certificate: Proof of the girl child’s birth.
- Bank Account Details: Bank account information for fund transfer.
- Ration Card: Ration card as proof of family identity.
- Caste Certificate: If applicable, caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC categories.
- Adoption Documents: Relevant documents if the girl child is adopted.
- Mobile Number: A valid mobile number for communication.
How to Apply for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana
- Online Application Form: Eligible beneficiaries can apply for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana through the online application form available on the Kanya Sumangla Portal.
- Registration:
- Beneficiaries must first register themselves on the portal.
- Fill in the basic details in the registration form and click on the Submit button.
- Login:
- After registration, log in to the portal using the chosen username and password.
- Filling the Application Form:
- Carefully fill out the Online Application Form for the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana.
- Upload all the required documents as per the guidelines.
- Submission:
- Submit the application by clicking on the Submit button.
- Verification:
- The submitted application will be forwarded to the concerned officials for verification.
- Financial Assistance:
- Upon successful verification, the financial assistance will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
