Introduction to the Marriage Assistance Scheme

The Jammu and Kashmir Marriage Assistance Scheme was launched on December 2, 2015, by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Its purpose is to:

  • Prevent child marriage by supporting families with financial challenges.
  • Provide Rs. 50,000/- financial aid directly into the beneficiary’s bank account via the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system.
  • Assist families holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) or Priority Household (PPH) ration cards.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: Minimum qualification of 8th pass (mandatory starting April 1, 2025).

    • Applications are reviewed by officials.
